Healthy Families Program for newborns

The first delivery of quilts to the pediatric department of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) was on April 6, 2012.
Brenda with NGMC Volunteer Services assisted with the delivery and introduced the Quilts for Kids program to the Pediatric nursing staff.

After the first quilt delivery to the hospital, I discovered that the basket full of quilts was too heavy to carry from room to room all around the hospital.
So, instead, I bought this little red wagon to transport the quilts.
The kids loved it and so did my arms!

Each Halloween, we delivered the quilts in costume and were known as the "Boo Crew". The crew began with two Volunteers and grew to 15 by 2019.
In 2020, COVID caused many procedural changes including the elimination of our personal quilt deliveries to the patients in their rooms.
Currently, we deliver all NGMC quilts to the Foundation for them to count & deliver to the Pediatric Department.

Since July 2022, co-Leader of the Northeast Georgia Chapter, Lisa Vieira has been delivering the quilts to NGMC's Foundation.
Upon admission to NGMC, the children are taken to their room and greeted by a quilt on their bed.
The quilts comfort the kids during their stay at the hospital and are theirs to keep!

Dianne Fahring has been delivering quilts to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for many years.
The deliveries have grown to 50 quilts per month.
