The national, non-profit organization Quilts for Kids was founded in 2000 by Linda Arye when she saw large amounts of design fabric samples being thrown into landfills. She felt the fabric could instead be put to good use and, thus, started making patchwork quilts to comfort children in need.
In March 2012, Betty Conoly of Gainesville started the Northeast Georgia Chapter. By 2019, the Chapter grew from 11 volunteers to over 400. In 2022, at our 10-year anniversary, we celebrated the 7,000 quilts donated milestone! Also that year, Lisa and Mark Vieira graciously stepped in as the new Chapter Leaders. As of September 2026, the Chapter donated 13,000 quilts and continues to donate over 100 quilts per month!
