Quilts For Kids, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on providing comfort quilts for kids enduring serious illness, trauma, abuse, or natural disasters. Our mission relies on the hard work and dedication of our volunteer quilters, who make a difference one stitch, one quilt, and one child at a time!

Our History

The national, non-profit organization Quilts for Kids was founded in 2000 by Linda Arye after she noticed large amounts of design fabric samples being discarded into landfills. She believed that this fabric could be put to better use, leading her to create comfort quilts that provide warmth and solace to children in need. In March 2012, Betty Conoly of Gainesville established the Northeast Georgia Chapter dedicated to making comfort quilts. By 2019, the Chapter had expanded significantly, growing from 11 devoted volunteer quilters to over 400. During our 10-year anniversary celebration in 2022, we proudly reached the milestone of donating 7,000 quilts. That same year, Lisa and Mark Vieira graciously stepped into the roles of new Chapter Leaders. As of September 2026, the Chapter has achieved an impressive total of 13,000 quilts donated and continues to provide over 100 comfort quilts each month! Due to the growth of the chapter and workshops, Betty Conoly stepped back in as the NE GA chapter leader, and Mark & Lisa Vieira formed the Georgia Chapter of Quilts for Kids. Both chapters with their amazing volunteers will continue the mission of providing quilts to children in need!

Our Team

We launched our first workshop at First Baptist Church in March 2012, and since then, we've expanded to three workshops with plans for further growth. Pictured above is our St. Paul United Methodist Church team participating in their first workshop in 2024. Our dedicated team of over 250 volunteer quilters is passionate about creating comfort quilts for kids, providing warmth and solace through beautifully crafted, custom-made quilts.
